Welcome to Clovis!

Clovis was incorporated into a city in 1912 and has been growing ever since. Clovis, true to its slogan, does offer a way of life. Clovis combines a small town feeling with big city amenities. The city retains its old west charm and focuses on family values and needs. Clovis strives to protect its small town feel while meeting the demands of everyday life. The success Clovis has had in this is seen in its continued growth and expansion. In 1995 Clovis covered 15 square miles; by 2005 Clovis covered 21 square miles. The original downtown area has been renovated and reborn Old Town Clovis, a turn of the century shopping area featuring antique stores, restaurant and specialty shops. From the months of May to September, Old Town Clovis is a popular destination where people take advantage of the Farmers Market.

A vast array of outdoor activities highlights the city’s calendar of annual events. Big Hat Days, Clovisfest, Children’s Electric Christmas Parade and the Clovis Rodeo, one of the largest rodeos in the west, highlight the calendar. Clovis hosts events that appeal to all ranges of ages and interests.

One of the best ways to see Clovis is by exploring one of its many trails. The fully landscaped Clovis Old Town Trail is an excellent way to see Clovis and get some exercise. The trail meanders through the downtown area and surrounding neighborhoods. As part of its continued commitment to its residents, Clovis works with builders and industry on plans that integrate the family, education and businesses needs of the community. New housing in the Clovis area reflects these ideals with many neighborhoods easily accessible to both schools and business by foot.

Clovis has attracted several large corporations, Pelco, Anvil and Wawona Frozen Foods, with the city’s business environment continuing to expand rapidly. The cornerstone of Clovis’s business community currently centers on retail, manufacturing and research. For many Clovis citizens, the ability to work and live in Clovis is an ideal situation. This is probably why Clovis boasts a low unemployment rate.

Clovis neighborhoods are designed around family needs. Clovis schools are highly regarded and emphasize a high level of parental involvement. Nearly half of Clovis schools have been recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools. Excellent healthcare is readily available in Clovis and the surrounding areas. Clovis also has a strong spiritual base with a wide variety of faiths that welcome new members.
